crochet river rocks

I got this idea from http://blog.freepeople.com...thought it was pretty cool...mine is just a basic idea..since i taught myself how to crochet, less then 24 hours ago by watching you tube...you can learn how to do all sorts of stuff on that.  I used 100% white cotton yarn.  Did my own version of crocheting.  Took a couple of river rocks out of my yard....they have tons of them at the beach.  After I was done I dipped it in some fabric dye. (I just happen to have some laying around from a previous project I did back in February). Wrapped the finished crochet project around the river rock while still wet, so that it will form to the rock.

What great paper weights these would be or laying in  your garden...I thought they would be perfect in a basket for Ester or write a message on them and use them as a name card at the table.

Happy St. Patricks Day

Happy St. Patricks  Day from Deatils Merchandising. Here's a little quote I found that I wanted to share with you....we all deserve a little luck, good health and happiness...
For each petal on the shamrock
This brings a wish your way -
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day

What's new in my world....

I enjoy making tags...I try to create something different each time.  I had some Artchicks images laying around so I thought "I can't save everything" and here you go, some fun tags that I made.  You can find these tags at  http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/   and also at http://www.pangaeaoutpost.com/

A friend of mine was closing down their Antique store.  Originally it was a clothing store called Shellhoups.  It originated I believe back in the 60's because I remember when they closed down that store and they had all their original merchandise. I bought a pair of jets tennis shoes and that was in the 80's. I ran across these old alteration tags and gave them some life.  A little paint, glitter and ink...I have these tags available at http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/ and also at http://www.pangaeaoutpost.com/

I'm always collection vintage keys.  I figure they will come in handy for something some day.  Well today they came in handy.  I picked up these fun metal embellished wings, crowns, and flowers and turned them into a necklace.  The key to life is...fly with your dreams.  I have these for sale at http://www.pangaeaoutpost.com/

I just fell in love with these big burlap bags.  Not only are they great but they serve a purpose.  1 bag will feed a child 1 meal for 1 year.  It is organic cotton and burlap.  Great bat to take to the farmers market, flea market, grocery store, beach...the use is endless and at the same time you are sharing a message.  I have these for sale at http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/ and also at http://www.pangaeaoutpost.com/

Weekend of treasure hunting

Something I always enjoy is going to estate sales.  I found lots of great treasures to share with you.
Colorful shakers....great for storing glitter...you can find these at  http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/

What a find this big dictionary was.  I love to tear it apart and use it in art projects or a back drop for my photo shoots.

I ran across lots of vintage lace...they are fun to add to my sewing projects.  I think I might use these to make a fun and funky lace dress.

Another great piece....this lace fabric.

The house that I went to, the person made miniature doll houses.  These old books, the insides were cut out. What great shadow boxes they would make.  You can find these at http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/

Vintage inspired wall paper.  I was thinking these would be cool to put between glass to make jewelry.  I have these at http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/

Lately I have seen Alice in Wonderland stamps.  Well I found this Alice in Wonderland Paper.  I only have a couple of sheets so make sure you make it into http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/ before it's gone.

These are Victorian Images.  I can see them being used on trading cards or altered art projects.

Dry Rubons with vintage labels images.

These are small architectual pieces.  I thought they were so sweet...

Alphabet dry rub ons.

I love old photos.  I use them for many different projects.  They are hard to find, but I got lucky and ran across these.

Old silverplate items are so chic.  The picture to the left is actually a napkin holder but I thought it would be great for holding photos or even letters and bills.  The photo to the right is a victorian lady bookmark.

This is a note card that was designed by the woman that signed it for a sorority.

Beautiful vintage blue bowl.  I'm not sure if it is depression glass but it is very anthropologie looking.  I have this for sale athttp://www.pangaeaoutpost.com/

I'm not sure what these were exactly for but I thought, how cool they would be to glue some gems on and hang them on a chain....instant jewelry.

Vintage green satin clutch.  It fits with todays trend.  Check it out on my etsy page...http://www.etsy.com/shop/eclectikfunk

Vintage linen hand embroidered place mat, napkin, and table runner set.  Made in Hong Kong..you can see more photos on my etsy site. http://www.etsy.com/shop/eclectikfunk

Message on a Bottle

I love going to trendy diners.  The last one I went to in Palm Springs, I loved how they served you water in recycled bottles.  I took some bottles I have been saving and added some vintage charm and a special spot to leave a message. These bottles you can purchase at http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/ or at http://www.pangaeaoutpost.com/...xoxo

I just thought they would be a fun addition to your table setting, party with friends...

The great thing about these bottles, you can fill them up with your favorite beverage and label them.  Put some flowers in it with a special message.  Fill it up with some m&m's, reeses, red hot's let that someone special know how sweet they are.

I thought the charms on the bottles would just add a little vintage flare.

Happy Sunday

What a beautiful Sunday afternoon in sunny Southern California.  Great day for the Super Bowl and to enjoy festivities with friends....

Handcrafted jewelry and Vintage jewelry

One of my passions is buying and selling old treasures.  I also sell handcrafted jewelry from other artist and thought I can make my own jewelry just as easy, so I did, using some of my old treasures that I find when I'm out treasure hunting.  You can purchase my jewelry at http://www.pangaeaoutpost.com/

I ran across this vintage white flower choker and just had to get it.  It is a wonderful piece for spring/summer.

This is sort of a funky piece that I made and by the way looks great on.  I used an old clock piece and a vintage chandelier crystal.  Most of the jewelry findings I use are by Vintaj which I sell at http://www.everafterscrapbooks.com/

I always pick up old keys when I'm out.  They always come in handy for some art project.  I had a bunch of glass beads laying around that I bought off my friend who designs jewelry http://shoplilygirl.com/  I didn't know what I was going to do with all the beads and have been holding on to them for years.  Well while creating my jewelry I thought how perfect.  Old door hardware make perfect pieces to embellish the necklace as well as old jewels.

A little bit of this and that and look what you get.

There is a gal that sells at the Urban Barn flea market.  http://urbanbarn155.blogspot.com/  She always has tons of metal shapes.  I bought a bunch one time, not knowing what I was going to do with them, but they sure came in handy.

Never pass up broken pieces of jewelry.  Sometimes you have to think outside the box and just visualize.  Keys, keys keys....great finds.

Another great find is this vintage gold choker with the ball.  Looks great and very interesting.

One thing I love is vintage buttons.  I have a ton of them and use them for all sorts of projects.  This vintage button I turned into a ring.  It is big and fun.

Another vintage jewelry find.  This piece is super long so you can layer it up or just wear it long with a bunch of other pieces.  Great color for spring/summer.
